An artist’s dream trip full of inspiration, culinary delights, cultural experiences, and ART: Join Beverley Street Studio School for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in Peru!
On August 17, 2025, 11 travelers will join internationally renowned artist Javier Tapia for a 14-day trip to Peru. This trip will visit some of the world’s best museums, exclusive artist studios, galleries, and Machu Picchu.
Javier Tapia ( Peruvian native fluent in English and Spanish) is known at the school through exhibitions and teaching. Tapia earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Austin (1984, 1987). He has exhibited at the Embassy of Peru Art Gallery, Washington, DC; Museo de Osma, Barranco, Peru; Bloom Gallery, Milan, Italy; Hunt Gallery at Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, VA; 1708 Gallery, Reynolds Gallery and the Anderson Gallery, all, Richmond, VA. He is a recipient of the Theresa Pollak Prize for Excellence in the Arts (2010). He currently lives in Richmond, VA, where he was a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Painting and Printmaking from 1988 to 2018.
During this trip, the travelers will be treated a visit to Carlos Runcie Tanaka’s studio and home in Lima. Since 1978 Tanaka has run a pottery studio in Lima, where, aside from his artwork, he creates functional pieces made from stoneware clays and local materials that are fired in gas kilns reaching temperatures of 1,300ºC (2,375ºF). Since 1990 he has been visiting professor at prestigious Universities in Japan and the United States of America. Member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC – AIC). He lives and works in Lima.

The cost per person for this adventure is $4,200. Flight is not included. Beverley Street Studio School is asking for a $400 non-refundable deposit to hold your place on this grand adventure by January 31, 2025.
