Amy Ransom Arnold

Amy earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia, a Master of Fine Arts in studio sculpture from the University of Washington, Seattle and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in metal smithing, transferring from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.  The pursuit of the relationship between ideas and the arrangement of materials is a fundamental thread throughout Amy’s work, as expressed in the three dimensional space of a garden or site, the two-dimensional space of a drawing and the sequenced patterning of an artist book.  Design awards include an Award for Sustainable Design from the Virginia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and an Award for Visionary Design from the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.  In addition, Amy has books included in the book arts collections of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington and James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
