SKETCHING HISTORIC STAUNTON WITH INK AND WATERCOLOR

SCULPTING IN GYPSUM

Sarah introduces artists to the lost art of bas-relief. No matter your skill level, if you’re into getting your hands messy and creating a masterpiece, this is the workshop for you. Over the course of two weekends, you’ll be guided step-by-step on how to create elegant 3-D abstraction with this unique art medium.

DRAWING THE STILL LIFE WITH PASTEL

Times: 10:00am – 3:00pm (Lunch Break from 12 to 1)

Location: Echols Studio

In this workshop, advanced beginner and intermediate – level students will work on building a solid foundation of color theory as it applies to the color of light and shadow in observational drawing. Working with the observed still life, students will have instructor support to go through the stages of building a strong base drawing and layering colors to better understand and render the perceived colors of light. Each workshop day includes verbal explanations, artist examples and demonstration of techniques by the instructor. Each student will also receive personalized feedback, depending on their own skill level and needs.
